Accessibility statement.

Openly documented: our assessment and what it found.

We want this website to be usable by everyone, including with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or limited colour vision. Our benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, level AA, plus individual criteria from version 2.2.

What was measured

The figures below are measured, not estimated. They were calculated against the background actually visible, including semi-transparent layers.

  • Contrast: every visible text on all 181 pages except the error page, German and English, at 1440 and 390 pixels wide, 43,772 text elements in total (counted per page and width), calculated against the composited background including semi-transparent layers. Result: no text below the required 4.5:1, or 3:1 for large text. The only exception under WCAG is disabled buttons, such as „Next“ in the NIS-2 check before a choice has been made.
  • Headings: all 182 pages, including the error page, carry exactly one main heading and none skips a heading level.
  • Controls: operable areas measure at least 24 by 24 pixels, sit within running text or keep the required spacing to the nearest other target. The explanatory asterisk next to „Retainer“ looks smaller than it is: it carries an invisible 24 by 24 pixel hit area.
  • Forms: every input field, in the contact form and in the checking tools, has a programmatically associated label. Required fields in the contact form are marked with an asterisk.
  • Focus: anyone tabbing through the pages sees a focus ring on every element reached; measured over 14,304 steps on the same 181 pages (up to 80 per page and width).

Last measured on 1 October 2026 against the built site, not a preview.

What is in place

  • Skip link to the main content, reachable on the very first tab step.
  • Full keyboard operation, with a visible focus ring on every element.
  • Semantic structure with header, navigation, main area and footer.
  • Image descriptions that name what is in the picture; purely decorative images stay silent for screen readers.
  • Moving elements stop as soon as the operating system reports „reduce motion“. On the sub-pages the background is static anyway.
  • Page language declared, German and English versions linked separately.
  • Fonts are served locally; opening a page creates no connection to third parties.

Known limitations

We know about the following points and would rather name them than leave them out:

  • No test with real assistive technology. Our measurements are automated. A run with VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS, and a test with people who rely on such tools daily, are still outstanding. Automated checks are known to find only part of the barriers.
  • Embedded review seal. The ProvenExpert seal loads the provider's content only after a click. We have no influence on its accessibility.
  • Interactive self-checks. The tools are multi-step wizards. They can be operated with the keyboard but have not yet been walked through with a screen reader.
  • Technical language. Data protection law cannot be fully expressed in plain language. There is no easy-read version so far.

Reporting a barrier

If something stops you from using this site, please write to us. Naming the page and the assistive technology you use helps us find the spot faster.
